Peppermint Body Scrub Recipe

14 Dec

This is a quick and easy recipe for a peppermint body scrub. Scrubs are great for exfoliating the skin and helping it to be smoother. The best thing about this recipe is that there are only three ingredients. All of these are ingredients that you can use in many other mixes so they won’t go to waste.

What You Need:

  • Sea Salt- choose the grain size that works best for your skin. The one you see in this photo is fine grain. I also made one that was medium. The smaller the size, the gentler the scrub will be.
  • Peppermint Liquid Castile Soap
  • Oil of your choice
  • Clean jar or container

What to Do:

I mixed the castile soap and the salts together first. Then I added the oil. I used jojoba, but you can use a different type. I didn’t measure. I just poured it in small amounts until it was the texture that I wanted. It only took a few minutes to make.

Give this a try. You can always use different types of castile soap to get a different scent. I’ve also made a lavender body scrub using this same method. This scrub will leave your skin hydrated and soft. It’s a great way to treat yourself without spending a lot of money.

Natural Oven Cleaner Recipe

12 Sep

1 cup or more baking soda
A squirt or two of liquid castile soap

Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven.  Cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface is totally white. Sprinkle  more water over the top. Let the mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up the grease the next morning because the grime will have loosened. When you have cleaned up the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven. If this recipe doesn’t work, try adding more baking soda.

Many Uses of Liquid Castile Soap

28 Jun

Castile Soap can be used for many different purposes.  Here are a few:

1. Shower/Bath- it is great for people with sensitive skin because it does not have the chemicals in it that are in other types of soap.  There is also a baby mild kind especially made for the little ones.

2. Shampoo- For hair, I like to use the lavender, tea tree, and peppermint castile soaps.  There is also original, citrus, and almond.  There may be others that I haven’t seen.

3. Great for camping because of it’s many uses, and it is safe for the environment

4. It can be used for cleaning around the house including for dishes and laundry.

5. It’s also a great ingredient to have for many homemade natural creations.  I have used it to make my own shampoo and salt scrubs.

TIP-Castile soap should be diluted for most purposes.

Do you use castile soap?  If so, leave a comment with some of the ways you have used it.  It could give someone else an idea.
